Our Favorite Five – Rest of the Best
Our Favorite Five
- Autostraddle: Autostraddle is the pinnacle of lesbian art, culture, news, advice, and much more. Their regular bloggers discuss identifying as a non-hetero woman whether you’re young or old.
Why we love it: It’s updated frequently and comments on real-life issues outside of headlining news.
Check this out: Coming Out at Work
- Good As You: I can’t explain it any better than GAY has on its site: “represents a new generation of GLBT activism. Now is the time for intelligent, progressive-minded individuals to step up and fight for the common rights of which they might be denied.”
Why we love it: It’s a clearing house for LGBT news with progressive ideology.
Check this out: Butte Hole
- Joe My God: Gay culture, short stories, politics, and fabulous disco trivia. Joe is witty, insightful, and covers both big gay issues and day-to-day thoughts and experiences. No wonder readers identify him as one of the best LGBT blogs online.
Why we love it: Joe does it all, and he does it with video!
Check this out: Focus on the Family
- Effing Dykes: ED is like reading a letter from your best friend—it’s like they know your psyche, but can put it to words in a far more punchy, wittier way than you ever could. But don’t hate: ED’s comments on dyke culture and day-to-day life are hilarious and humbling.
Why we love it: One word: hilarious.
Check this out: Bikini Kill
- Pam’s House Blend: PHB started in 2004 as a way for Pam to talk about the frustrations of the election, and has grown from there: “It became clear that blogging about news stories involving LGBT concerns could give those who visited the Blend an insight into the progress (or lack thereof) of gay rights in Red State/Blue State America.”
Why we love it: It reminds us that you don’t have to be a politician or a scholar to have an opinion and make your voice heard
